DESIGN HOUSE ADMI

Chiharu Hori, grew up in the countryside of Tokyo – it sounds like an oxymoron but it really does exist! She spent her childhood surrounded by nature, she grew up amongst the mountains and rivers, and you can see that reflected in her designs.

After graduating from design school, Chiharu travelled to India and discovered the ancient craft of woodblock printing. She connected with the woodblock print artisans and learnt how the craft is slowly disappearing. She wanted to create something together with these craftspeople and share the beauty of woodblock printing with as many people as possible. Thus admi was born.

The fabric is designed by Chiharu in Tokyo and then handprinted by artisans in India, using a hand carved woodblock for each colour and layer in the design – resulting in a beautiful gentle texture. Every piece of fabric is one of a kind.

All admi fabrics are handprinted on high quality Indian cotton – it’s easy to wear and easy to wash, the more you do, the softer it becomes.
