With a range of options to choose from you can get to know your sewing machine, overcome any intimidation around your overlocker or learn the basics of sewing and create a fabulous handmade item that showcases your newfound skills.

These classes are perfect for those who are relatively new to sewing and want to learn the basics.

Maybe you’ve been curious for a while but haven’t known how to get started... Or perhaps you’ve dabbled a little but have found it more frustrating than fun.

This will kickstart your sewing journey in the best possible way. Aims will guide you through each step, ensuring that you never feel overwhelmed.

In the 1.5 hour sessions, you'll learn how to thread a sewing machine, sew straight lines, sew around corners and complete a project of your choosing. I have sewing machines and fabric you can use. However if you have a fabric you’d like to use, or a machine you want to get familiar with, please bring it along!

You can choose from the following options:

  • Make your own scrunchies
  • A cushion cover
  • Understand your sewing machine
    • Threading your machine
    • Winding your bobbin
    • Stitch tension
    • Basic stitches
    • Buttonholes
    • Fabric and beginner project advice
  • Crossbody or Tote bag
  • Elastic waist skirt
  • Understand Your Serger/Overlocker. You'll discover the many functions of an overlocker. Learn the basics and gain a wealth of knowledge to start experimenting with at your leisure. This online class is perfect for those who want to sew knits or finish their seams with ease but are feeling intimidated or unsure where to even start. This personal one-on-one online class will set you up for success, including:
    • Identifying the parts of your machine
    • Threading your overlocker (Four-thread, two-needle function, Three-thread, single-needle function, Changing back from three to four thread)
    • Tension
    • Finishing the ends
    • Overlocking corners and curves
    • If time allows: Rolled hem and lettuce edges

You'll also get to choose a time that suits you too! Hours are flexible but usually offered Monday - Friday, between 9am - 5pm AEDT.
